Making Sense of Sensing

Circles are sacred, she said. They are symbols of wholeness, and I have arranged them in such a way that there is a bridge between the two of them and a crown of leaves above them. The green leaves demonstrate new growth, the orange leaves a more mature understanding of how two beings, who are whole in themselves, can still complete each other on a higher level.

That sounds profound, he said, but it really doesn’t make any sense to me.

It’s easier for you to think than sense something. She said this in a matter-of-fact tone that he thought he should argue with, but didn’t know how.

Are you mocking me? His brows knit together.

There’s making sense of something, through thought, and there’s sensing something through feelings, she went on. I mock not, I merely enlighten. She knew she was pushing it.

Well, I think I would like a coffee and a decadent pastry, right now, and I sense you would be amenable to this sweet idea.  He grinned as if he had figured everything out.

She grabbed her coat and purse.

About CarolWiebe

Art entices, inspires, and delights me. Art is a vehicle for laughter, tears, wonder, enlightenment--taking me on a constant path of discovery. You can't say that about housework (except, perhaps, for the crying part).
