Donning the Dunce Cap

.

The definition of dunce is a stupid person, a dolt, an idiot ~ someone “incapable of learning.”

I don’t believe in dunces. I realize, however, that there are people so full of their own importance that they feel quite justified calling someone else a dunce.

Learning styles are different, the capacity to grasp certain subjects varies, interests are wildly disparate. But you would be hard pressed to find someone utterly incapable of learning.

Dunce Cap

When your efforts run in the face of conventional wisdom and accepted mastery, persistence can look like madness. If you succeed in the end, this extreme originality reformulates into a new level of mastery, sometimes even genius; if you fail in the end, you remain a madman in the eyes of others, and maybe even yourself. When you are in the midst of the journey…there’s really no way of knowing which one you are.”

About CarolWiebe

Art entices, inspires, and delights me. Art is a vehicle for laughter, tears, wonder, enlightenment--taking me on a constant path of discovery. You can't say that about housework (except, perhaps, for the crying part).
