An Artful Surprise in a Smelly Alley

An absolute delight (besides the fireworks I witnessed in Vancouver) was discovered in a smelly alley. The alley housed a large amount of pungent trash. However, it also held a treasure of amazing art.

My sister and I entered the alley, with wide eyes and our cameras poised. We awakened a homeless woman sleeping there, whose mumbled “What the f*** are you doing in MY alley?”  did not deter us. It was a public alley and the walls were too compelling. Also, she stuck her head back in her sleeping bag and ignored us after that initial query, which I assume was rhetorical.

This graffiti artist has a website, and doesn’t mind advertising the fact. Either that, or the URL has been superimposed. I doubt that, though, because SlimDizzy (and other bloggers) gave  artists from Cold World Media credit for some of the art in the Gastown alley.

I have Dalinian thought: the one thing the world will never have enough of is the outrageous.

Mistakes are almost always of a sacred nature. Never try to correct them. On the contrary: rationalize them, understand them thoroughly. After that, it will be possible for you to sublimate them.

About CarolWiebe

Art entices, inspires, and delights me. Art is a vehicle for laughter, tears, wonder, enlightenment--taking me on a constant path of discovery. You can't say that about housework (except, perhaps, for the crying part).
