Double Whammy

Today, four people retired from our small school. It’s true that they have to work until the end of next week, but today ~ with a potluck supper, and cake, and speeches ~ felt like good-bye.

I also had my last classes with this year’s kindergarten students. Just about all the children kissed my puppet Candy good-bye.

That’s a double whammy and I am exhausted. I did a little more stitching on Well Worn Glory, but that can wait to be scanned tomorrow. Tonight, I am just going to let myself sit and think about ending old chapters and starting new ones in our lives.

  1. It sounds like you’ve had a very bittersweet day…you definitely deserve some “just sit and think” time. Life continually evolves, doesn’t it, whether we want it to or not. Your Double Whammy is gorgeous…the colors have such depth, and the symmetry is comforting. Lovely!

  2. I think the teacher component does it, but I always think of this time of year as an “end/begin” point. A sweet, if wistful time to reflect and regroup before taking on new things. It’s always been my belief that some of us become teachers in part to hang on to that different calendar, that young person’s view of the year. Thanks for the reminder.

You are always welcome, Julianne. Sweet and wistful describes it perfectly.

I LOVE hearing from you!
