Oscar Wilde was humourous about forgiveness. He counseled, “Always forgive your enemies – nothing annoys them so much.” But Rumi and Mark Twain went to the heart of the matter:
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.
Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.
