Crow flies in

A crow suddenly flew onto my page. Crows frequently do that around me.

About CarolWiebe

Art entices, inspires, and delights me. Art is a vehicle for laughter, tears, wonder, enlightenment--taking me on a constant path of discovery. You can't say that about housework (except, perhaps, for the crying part).

  1. Ohhh, I like these colours Carol!
I am intrigued about your ‘wrapped canvas’ and your cpq. How does that work?
I ask because I am experimenting with rust dying on fabric and the results make me want to put the thing on a stretcher with a canvas backing.

Stunning. LOVE your crows. Crows speak to me on so many levels. This one is astonishing! It’s as if its spirit is all over the page!

    • Carol Wiebe says:

I create my quilted paper surface (using the cpq or cracked paper quilt method) and glue it to the wrapped canvas. That gives me a highly textured surface (paper and thread) that is very amenable to attaching other things, either by sewing them on before I glue the quilted paper to the canvas, or after (using glue, medium, etc.)

Search for ways that embroidery is mounted: that would probably give you a good working method for what you want to do.

Study Jane Dunnewold. She presents cloth in a multitude of wonderful ways.

I LOVE hearing from you!
